Venue reopening in 2018 asks residents to take part in survey
Hammersmith's Riverside Studios will reopen in 2018, and are now asking local residents to take part in a survey and give their views
to help shape access for all.
The studios say that, following a three and a half year redevelopment, they are due to reopen on their original site next to Hammersmith Bridge in Spring 2018.
Housing three state-of-the-art studios, a 200 seat cinema, a 50 seat screening room, rehearsal room, community events space and restaurants and bars looking out onto the river, Riverside Studios will be a major new centre for performance which builds on its heritage while looking to the future of live and digital arts.
For 40 years Riverside Studios' unique programming has combined cutting edge live performance, visual arts, international cinema and television production. During that time we have presented an extraordinary array of theatre innovators from Samuel Beckett to Complicité, iconic musicians including David Bowie and Amy Winehouse, world-renowned artists such as David Hockney and Yoko Ono and pioneers of dance including Michael Clark and Rambert.
Recently, Riverside Studios received first stage funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to create a brand new in-house archive facility which will enable access to an array of materials and stories that have never been seen or heard before.
There will also be an exciting programme of heritage-related activities on offer that will add a new dimension to Riverside Studios, reaching out to audiences of all ages.
As part of this exciting project the studios are seeking your input. This survey is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and have your say. Whether you live in or near the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, already know and love Riverside Studios, or have never been but have an interest in the arts, or cultural and heritage activities, your voice is important.
The studios add that they look forward to drawing inspiration from the information you provide.
