Previous resident Tandoori Nights calls it a day
Potli Restaurant, focusing on Indian market cooking, will be opening its doors in July at 319 – 321 King Street, W6, on the site of what was Tandoori Nights. The restaurant will offer a value-for-money experience in a casual and friendly environment, focusing on the kind of fresh, wholesome and traditional dishes commonly served in marketplace across the Subcontinent. The spacious restaurant will seat around 60 at a mixture of tables and banquettes, there will also be a more casual bar area seating a further 40 for drinks and snacks. Downstairs, the private dining room, with capacity for up to 60 standing (or 40 seated), offers views of the chefs in action in the kitchen.
Inspiration for the menu has come from marketplaces across India, with dishes such as Pani-Puri from Chowpatty Beach in Mumbai, Macchi Amritsari from Chandni Chowk in Delhi, Prawn Jhal Diye from Chowrenghee Lane, Kolkata and Gilafi Sheek from Aminabad, Lucknow. There will also be more familiar grills, kebabs and curries.
The colourful interior will be evocative of India, with large, bright Bollywood posters, and a feature wall of the spice bags (potlis) which the restaurant gets its name from.
