No surprises as Virendra Sharma holds his seat
Labour's Virendra Sharma has held his seat in Ealing Southall which he won in the 2007 by-election. Turnout was high - nearly 65 per cent with an electorate of 66,970.
Virendra Sharma said:'' I am humbled and honoured to have been re-elected to represent the people of Ealing Southall in Parliament again. I will redouble my efforts to serve and speak up for all my constituents.''

Nigel Bakhai said, '' It was always going to be a difficult campaign but I thought I ran a good campaign. I've not got out in Southall as much as I would have liked - concentrating on my council seat in Elthorne but I think I have helped raised the profile of the Liberal Democrats in the area.''
