Carpenter's Arms and Dartmouth Castle join ranks of those recommended in 2009 guide
Two local gastro-pubs joined the illustrious ranks of these recommended by Michelin in their guide to Eating Out in Pubs 2009 which was published this week.
Amongst the 563 of the best pubs serving good food in the UK and Ireland, Michelin gave a special mention to The Carpenter's Arms and Dartmouth Castle marking their first appearance in the guide.
All the pubs in the guide were selected for the quality of their cooking.
Commenting on the evolution of pub food and its rise in popularity, the guide’s editor Derek Bulmer said, “The standard of cooking in British and Irish pubs keeps getting better and better. We are seeing a growing confidence in our culinary heritage, greater use of local, seasonal ingredients and a rediscovery of regional specialities”.
The equally regarded Harden’s London Restaurants 2009, published last week, was somewhat less benevolent to W6 ranking the River Café amongst the most overpriced establishments in London.
