Jackie Borland is the New Councillor in Fulham's Sands End

Tory candidate is winner of a closely fought battle

Conservative candidate Jackie Borland is the new councillor in Sands End in the south of Fulham, following a by-election held yesterday alongside the General Election.

Jackie received 2,845 votes in a closely fought battle which saw Labour candidate Anne Rosenberg not far behind with 2,669 votes.

The third candidate, Liberal Democrat Ray Burnet received 602 votes.

Jackie says: " I was brought up across the river in Wandsworth Common, I've lived in Fulham for 6 years and my family now live in Hammersmith. I work for a small family-run residential property development business and we deal mainly with properties in and around the H&F borough."

During the pre-election campaign, she said: "I'm honoured to have been selected as the Conservative candidate for Sands End and, if elected, will dedicate my time to helping the residents where I can and work to improve what is already a fantastic area to live and work in."

Now Jackie says she will work with residents to provide genuinely affordable housing and tackle the scandal of the empty homes on Watermeadow Court on Townmead Road which Labour continue to leave empty.

She supports the campaign for a Crossrail 2 interchange at Imperial Wharf and will continue to campaign for improvements to the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road, Carnwath Road and Townmead Road, and wants to create a cleaner, greener Sands End, saying Labour are failing Sands End residents; fly tipping is up 53% whilst tree planting is down 77%.

She says: " Residents deserve cleaner streets and more investment in our parks. We will always put Sands End residents first."
