Local Nursery Achieves "Outstanding" Result

Little People Day Nursery wins high praise from Ofsted

Children and staff at Little People Nursery are celebrating after receiving an outstanding rating by Ofsted Inspectors, and are the only one with this rating in Hammersmith and Fuham.

In their report, the inspectors praised Little People of Willow Vale, part of the Little People Nursery group, stating that: "Overall the quality of the provision is outstanding. All children make progress in their individual learning and development to a very high standard as staff members are diligent in ensuring they have excellent, up-to-date knowledge of the individual needs of children in their care".

The report also praised the nursery's ability in helping children to "play and learn with the support of well deployed and caring staff members who take every opportunity to promote children's independence, free movement and use of a stimulating range of resources".

With reference to the quality and standards of the early years provision the inspectors found that: "Children make excellent progress in their learning. They are supported by staff members who have excellent knowledge and understanding of the early learning goals. This is because planning is understood by all members of staff as it is recorded in sufficient detail to ensure a consistent approach and develops each child's uniqueness".

The report also recognised that children "benefit from frequent opportunities to play outdoors in the fresh air, alongside well organised activities that challenge their physical development".

This is a fantastic achievement for the team. Jane Gleasure the proprietor said: "I am so proud of all the dedicated and talented staff. We continually strive to deliver the best childcare and education possible, to all the children in our care, and this is recognised in the outstanding rating by Ofsted which is only achieved by around 3% of nurseries nationwide".

Dawn Cove has been the nursery manager at Little People for over 8 years and the report praises her leadership in the "successful development" of curriculum planning and assessment, the use of an "effective key worker system" and the commitment "to working in partnership with parents and carers".
