Aritst hopes to give people a different view of their local area
Emerging artist Keira Rathbone is to launch a new exhibition of Typewriter Art works at a local café, running until 2 September.
Created using her extensive collection of vintage typewriters, many of the works due to be exhibited have been inspired by scenes around Hammersmith and Chiswick.
Aside from original Typings, items for sale will include limited edition prints as well as postcards, one-off silk typed badges and mini prints.
“I’m really excited to be showing some new pieces at the exhibition, particularly because it is being held in my local neighbourhood,” says Keira.
“Landmarks such as Hammersmith bridge, as well as wildlife in Chiswick House gardens have been the starting point to new works. My technique will hopefully give people a different view of their local area.”
A downloadable audio guide is being created especially for the exhibition by Sony Award nominated BBC Producer Lolita Laguna, with soundscapes as well as interviews with the artist giving insight into the works on display.
You can see Keira’s work at Upsy Daisy Bakery, 387 King Street, Hammersmith, nearest tube Stamford Brook.
