Partners with Ealing and Brent Councils to let Serco run service
Hounslow Council enters a new era in its parking service on Monday (August 5) when it merges its parking service partnership with Ealing and Brent councils.
The decision to outsource services was taken last year and the Council said then that jointly managing parking with one contractor would save Hounslow over £600,000 a year.
The new service across the three boroughs will be run by Serco for the next five years, based in Park Royal.
The new contract will introduce 'virtual' parking permits for controlled parking zones, meaning motorists will no longer have to display paper permits on their windscreens.
Hounslow says it will mean the introduction of better customer service and new technology for Hounslow residents.
New IT and the pooling of back-office staff will also generate efficiencies and provide a better quality of service said the Council.
Brent Council outsourced its parking in the 1990s and Ealing Council had partly done so.
