Holy Innocents Celebrates '125 Years of Our Parish'

With two evenings of music, words and some surprises in March

The Church of the Holy Innocents in Paddenswick Road is hosting A Theatrical Revue celebrating '125 Years of Our West London Parish' on Sunday March 6 from 4pm and Monday March 7 from 7.30pm.

Join the church for an evening of music, words and a few surprises.

125 years ago, Henry Cullen Eden (uncle of Sir Anthony Eden) founded this Parish. The rural Hammersmith of market gardens and open spaces was swept away as London’s urban development roared apace, bringing in its wake a rapidly-expanding, largely working-class, population to feed this new order. Families lived in conditions of poverty and in one year alone, the new church looked after 3000 children in its crèche.

The building which Father Eden built and dedicated forty years of his life to, was designed by celebrated Victorian Gothic Revival architect James Brooks, is English Heritage Grade 11* Listed and has an extraordinary story to tell.

Today it serves not only the spiritual needs of the Parish but the secular/wider community. The footfall of about 1000 a week comprises church services, keep-fit classes, community events, meetings, children’s parties and rehearsal space for some of our leading arts organisations.

The Production of prose, poetry, dancing & music, both classical and popular, whilst developed within the Parish, will be performed by a core cast of professional actors including many Alumni of LAMDA - London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, based in Barons Court - and musicians led by the Church’s own Director of Music.

The local Chiswick Sea Cadets and many any other talented performers will also be performing: this whole eclectic mix reflecting the history of the past 125 years and the vibrant, multicultural Parish of today.

The two evenings will support The Clink Charity, one of two charities being supported throughout the 125th anniversary year, the other being the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation which is working to increase access to education in South Sudan.

On Sunday March 6, doors open at 3.30pm with the revue starting at 4pm. Tickets cost £20, including an interval drink.

On Monday March 7, the revue begins at 7.30pm Tickets cost £25 including a drinks/canape reception in the Upper Hall.
