North End Road Shut in West Kensington for Up to Two Weeks

H&F Council says it is urging Thames Water to complete works as soon as possible

Thames Water is carrying out emergency repairs to a sewer pipe which has collapsed near West Kensington Tube Station.

This means the road has been closed to traffic -though still open to pedestrians - between Talgarth Road and the junction with Barons Court Road, causing traffic chaos in surrending roads and noise, pollution and inconvenience for West Kensington residents and businesses.

Thames Water says it is scheduled to complete the work by Friday 8 December, but a spokesperson adds: "We'll finish it sooner if we possibly can."

H&F Council says it has asked Thames Water to use extra resources and work around the clock to complete the repairs as quickly as possible, and has also lobbied the company to install additional signs along the A4 as well as re-enforcing those along Fulham Palace Road. The council says the situation will be monitored closely while the works continue.

Diversion routes for traffic travelling both north and south have been signposted.

Diversion routes are:

Southbound - West Cromwell Road > Earls Court Road > Old Brompton Road > Lillie Road. No entry to North End Road from Talgarth Road.

Northbound - Lillie Road (westbound) > Fulham Palace Road > Queen Caroline Street > Hammersmith Broadway > Hammersmith Road > North End Road.

The 28, 391 and N28 bus services are being diverted during the repairs.
