Shut to southbound traffic to prepare flyover for strengthening
Fulham Palace Road is to be closed to southbound traffic from Tuesday May 6 till Friday May 9 from 10.30pm till 5am.
TfL say they are their contractor
Costain commenced the second and final phase of strengthening the
Hammersmith Flyover on October 28, 2013, and this project has now reached the stage
of requiring night time road closures to southbound traffic on Fulham Palace
Road, which runs underneath the flyover.
As part of the strengthening works new steel tendons will be installed on
the flyover. From Tuesday, work will begin on Fulham
Palace Road to prepare the surface of the underside of the flyover for a
support system for the new steel tendons.
Lifting equipment will be used to access the underside of the flyover to
drill and core through the concrete in preparation for the support system
for the new steel tendons.
In order to ensure the safety of the travelling public as well as the workforce, these works will involve night time closures of Fulham Palace Road to
southbound traffic from the Hammersmith gyratory to just north of St
Augustine Priory.
The signed diversion route for this closure will be via North End Road / Lillie Road. Access to properties will not be affected.
TfL say they are firmly committed to minimising disruption to the local area and
apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of
these essential works.
