Southbound traffic is being diverted at the junction of North End Road and Talgarth Road because of urgent drainage repairs being carried out on North End Road, close to West Kensington underground station.

Hammersmith and Fuham Council says the work is essential to prevent flooding to nearby properties and will be done by the council’s contractor, Eurovia Ltd.

Work started on Monday August 19 and the repairs are expected to be complete by Monday, September 2.

In order to carry out the repairs safely and efficiently and to minimise disruption, all southbound access from the junction of North End Road and Cromwell Road / Talgarth Road, will be prohibited for the duration of the works. Appropriate diversion signs are in place during the works.

Cllr Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler, cabinet member for transport and technical services, says " These repairs are absolutely essential as we work to prevent flooding in the area. We have advised our contractor that they need to complete this work to the highest of standards and with the minimum of fuss.@

Residents are reminded that they should not park in the road where parking suspension signs are on display or where barriers and cones are in place.

In the centre of Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush Road will also be closed to traffic from 3am to midnight on Sunday September 1.

The closure is needed so that the tower crane that has been used as part of the redevelopment of the former Hammersmith Palais can be removed.

The site now houses Pure Hammersmith, a development of 418 students' flats built by Pure Student Living, which is due to open in September.

Electronic signs are already in place to advise motorists of the closure date. Diversion routes will be in place for local traffic and buses and access will be maintained to local residents and businesses.
