H&F Primary School Teams Play Tournament for Grenfell on Sunday

Organised at Acton's Club Des Sports by Toby Young's son Fred and his mum Caroline

34 sports teams from primary schools across Hammersmith and Fulham will be taking part in a Football and Netball Tournament on Sunday, 19 November in aid of the British Red Cross' London Fire Relief Fund, which helps people in need after the fire at Grenfell Tower.

The Tournament is taking place at Club des Sports, East Acton Lane, London W3 7HB between 2pm and 5.30 pm.

The tournament will see a battle between 23 football teams and 11 netball teams from primary schools including Ark Conway, Brackenbury, St Benedicts, West London Free Primary, St Stephen's and many more.

The idea for the tournament came originally from Toby Young's ten year-old son Fred, who is a pupil at St Stephen's. He has organised the event along with his mum Caroline and football organisation Shooting Starz.

Journalist and Director of free schools charity the New Schools Network Toby says: "Fred wanted to do something for the victims of the Grenfell fire, particularly as so many of those affected are young children.

"He’s a QPR season ticket holder and he came up with the idea of organising a football and netball tournament after he went to the Game For Grenfell organised by the club. With some help from his mum Caroline and Shooting Starz, a local sports organisation, he’s managed to pull together over 30 teams and raised more than £2,000. I’m extremely proud of him."

In fact the total at the tournament's JustGiving page currently stands at £2,115 with more funds still coming in.

Toby, Caroline and Fred say that Shooting Starz have been incredible. All the staff have given up their time for nothing and are absolutely passionate about the event.

And if Sunday's event proves a success, they are hoping to make it an annual event.
