Lyric's Spring Season Begins This Weekend


With world premiere of Leave to Remain, modern love story with original songs

The Lyric Hammersmith's spring 2019 season begins this weekend with the opening of a new play called Leave to Remain.

This season, featuring the final productions programmed by outgoing Artistic Director Sean Holmes, celebrates his tenure by bringing back one of his most successful shows, the acclaimed Ghost Stories, alongside some daring new work.

Leave to Remain, the world premiere of a new play with songs by Matt Jones and Kele Okereke opens the season, running from 18 January till 16 February.

Commissioned by the Lyric, directed by Robby Graham and designed by Rebecca Brower, this modern love story features Olivier Award nominated actor Tyrone Huntley in the lead role alongside Billy Cullum, pictured above.

From 19 February till 16 March, The Lyric welcomes the highly acclaimed 1927 Theatre Company with The Animals and Children Took to the Streets. Like a graphic novel burst into life, 1927 invites you on a theatrical journey of startling originality. Following worldwide success and the smash hit movie, the original terrifying hit Ghost Stories is back from 19 March through till 11 May. Written by Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson and directed by Andy Nyman, Jeremy Dyson and Sean Holmes, this original terrifying live production returns to the theatre where it all began. We have brought leading artists from different fields together - Matt is one of the UK's leading television writers, Kele is an astonishing musical talent, both as a solo artist and with his band Bloc Party.
