What's on in Hammersmith and Fulham this festive season

Looking to enjoy a festive show or concert during the festive season?

Here's what's coming up for both adults and children across Hammersmith and Fulham:

Eventim Apollo

Festivities begin on Saturday 1 December with Brian and Robin's Compendium of Reason.

For one night only, Brian Cox and Robin Ince of Radio 4's Infinite Monkey Cage are returning in December 2017 with another exhilarating collision of science, music, comedy and wonder. Prepare for a show where you never know what scientific or musical treat will be next on stage. With all proceeds going to great charities like Médecins Sans Frontières UK and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

It is followed on 3 December with Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Charity Show in aid of Julia’s House and Comic Relief, with guests with Jo Brand, Katherine Ryan, Jimmy Carr and more.

Then from 19 - 31 December comes the Apollo's big Christmas event. Feel-good, funny and full of festive joy, Nativity! The Musical has been adapted for the stage by Debbie Isitt, the creator of the much-loved films.

This Christmas join father and daughter Danny and Dani Dyer, legendary comedian Jo Brand and West End star Simon Lipkin as he reprises his role as Mr Poppy.

Lyric Theatre:

This year's Lyric Pantomime Dick Whittington, suitable for everyone aged six and upwards is now on, as is Raymond Briggs' much loved Father Christmas.

The last few tickets are still available for a one night show from Joe Stilgoe, who is back at the Lyric for his third consecutive year of festivities, with his stupendous band and star guests.

On 10 December, he will be presenting a brand new show called Christmas at the Movies, featuring the greatest Christmas music in film. Find out more and grab a ticket before they sell out here.

Bush Theatre:

The Snow Queen comes to Shepherd's Bush from 3 till 8 December, and invites children and their families to go on a winter journey about growing up, loyalty, friendship and the dangers of the unknown.

Mike Kenny has taken Hans Christian Andersen’s most highly acclaimed story and simplified it into a tale for young people aged three and up.

See it On 3 December at 11am; 4 - 7 December at 10.30am or 5pm and 8 December at midday and 2.30pm. Find out more and book tickets here.

It is followed by a show strictly for grown-ups, Unwrapped. For the first time ever the Bush Theatre is hosting an unmissable holiday season of cabaret, comedy and theatre curated by is an award-winning cabaret artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and collaborator Victoria Falconer, pictured right.

Unwrapped runs from 10 – 22 December with a multiplicity of artists, skilled in circus, puppetry, drag, political satire, making you laugh so much your sides hurt, and general “bad-assery”. Find out more about the programme of events and book tickets here.

Barons Court Theatre

Magician Richard Leigh returns to Comeragh Road to present The Fun Fair at the Magic Cavern, a show for the whole family, in which he has created an intimate underground mystical playground – a realm of magic, illusion and intrigue that will transport you to the odd-ball fairgrounds of yesteryear.

All Side Show attractions and Fairground games are created through magic and illusion. There's plenty of audience participation in this immersive theatre show, with a chance to play traditional games such as Hook a Duck and the Coconut Shy plus a puzzle entitled 13 Angels– great fun to bring the family or a group of friends together. All is not what it seems though. Everything has a magical twist or surprise.

The Fun Fair at the Magic Cavern is on 19, 20, 23, 28 and 30 December at 2pm, with tickets,
priced £12, £10 concessions.

Bush Hall

The Uxbridge Road venue has a series of Christmas events, beginning on 10 December with a Festive Tim Key returning to returning to empty his sack of mulled, festive mirth and slutty/poetical ramblings, Mock The Week’s Ed Gamble, Pleb’s creator and Key collaborator Tom Basden, two-time Edinburgh Comedy Award winner John Kearns and more.

The Idler Christmas Party with Danny Goffey is on 18 December, showcasing the talents of drummer, songwriter and indie legend Danny Goffey of Supergrass fame. It is followed on 21 December by A Christmas Knees-up with the Dirty Old Brasstards - a ten piece drum and brass outfit made up of some of London’s top brass and percussion musicians. Expect mince pies, ODB, Dj's till late, and a free cocktail upon arrival.

Finally on 23 December is Grace Petrie's Lefty Christmas, with the folk singer-songwriter joined by a line-up including Robin Ince, fellow songwriter Jasmine Kennedy, Hannah James, Personal Best and compere Deborah Frances-White, star of the Guilty Feminist podcast.
