Do You Know a Local Sporting Hero?

Nominations sought for Community Sports Awards

Thet summer Hammersmith & Fulham Council is hosting its second Community Sports Awards - an event which celebrates the achievements of local athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and organisations, and aims to raise the profile of those who have made outstanding contributions to sport and physical activity in the local community.

Hammersmith & Fulham has a tradition of being a great sporting borough, hosting three football clubs with top flight pedigree, a tennis club who provide " the best grass courts in the world" according to top professionals, and the borough was recently named as London’s sportiest by Sport England.

Lyn Carpenter, Director of Resident’s Services, says: "Sport can act as a vehicle for health improvement, social inclusion, and strengthening relationships in the community, however this could not happen without the dedication and hard work of local residents. If you know of an individual or organisation who you think has made a difference to sport in Hammersmith & Fulham, this is your chance to get them recognised."
