Secondary School Admissions Now Open

Parents urged to apply early and online for next year's places

Parents are being urged by Hammersmith & Fulham Council to apply early for next year's secondary school places for their children - and to do it on the internet.

Admissions for the borough's schools are now open and the council is encouraging parents to apply online although they can still use a paper application form, if necessary.

The deadline is Sunday October 31 but, along with all other London boroughs, H&F is calling for applications to be in by the week before - Friday October 22 - to help speed up the process and prevent any delays in children getting their offers.

Cabinet member for children's services, Cllr Helen Binmore, says: "The future of schools in H&F is looking promising - the new Hammersmith Academy will be welcoming its first students next year, the federation between Fulham Cross and Henry Compton will be in full flow, and many of our schools will have their sixth forms in place too, with new buildings."

Parents can apply for up to six state school places in any London borough, listed in order of preference, but must apply

using the application form provided by Hammersmith & Fulham Council.

Each of the school's admissions criteria are different and many of the borough's schools are oversubscribed, so parents are asked to consider their choices carefully.

All schools are holding open days in the coming weeks, to help parents make an informed decision. For more details download the council's secondary school open days and evenings leaflet or visit individual schools' websites.
