British Safety Council Offers Free Workshops to Local Firms

Chancellors Road office opens doors to help people make sense of health and safety

The British Safety Council, which is based in Hammersmith, is offering free workshops to local businesses with advice on keeping people safe.

The British Safety Council's office has been in Chancellors Road for nearly 60 years and this is the first time it has opened its doors to offer workshops for people who want to run successful and safe activities.

There will be three 90 minute workshops taking place each day on Friday 30 June and Saturday 1 July, at 10am, noon and 3pm.

Working in small groups, the participants will use their
existing knowledge, as well as tutors’ expertise, instincts and experience, to identify hazards, causes of incidents and ways to prevent them.

Using simple and easy to understand language, workshops will focus on three themes:

· Risk assessment
· Learning from incidents
· Managing your activities.

Head of Campaigns at the British Safety Council, Matthew Holder, says: "We know that when setting up or running a business or planning voluntary group activities, health and safety can appear complex and off-putting.

"That’s why we’ve developed this short, practical introduction to key health and safety concepts that will help remove the mystery surrounding them and enable local businesses and charities to successfully get on with their plans and activities."

He adds: “This is an unmissable opportunity to learn the basics of safe operations from the experts. At the workshops you will get guidance on how to plan your activities in an increasingly dangerous world."

Dates of the workshops:
Friday 30 June 2017: 10pm, 12pm, 3pm
Saturday 1 July 2017: 10am, 12pm, 3pm

Duration: 90 minutes
