Prudential RideLondon is Back on Sunday

With roads in Hammersmith and Fulham once again closed throughout the day

The annual Prudential RideLondon-Surrey cycle races are back this Sunday, 4 August, with roads across Hammersmith & Fulham once again closed throughout the day.

The UCI WorldTour Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic event will see 150 of the world's best male cyclists take part in a 169km race through London and Surrey and there will be a variety of opportunities for spectators to cheer on the riders along the route.

Thousands of amateur cyclists will also be hitting the road, raising money for charity by taking part in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, 46 and 19 events.

On the outward route, cyclists will ride through Hammersmith, via Talgarth Road, Hammersmith Flyover and The Great West Road as far at the Hogarth Roundabout. This means these roads will be closed from 5am and expected to reopen from 12.25pm.

On the homeward route, cyclists will ride across Putney Bridge and along New Kings and Kings Road towards the Embankment. These roads will be closed from 7.30am with reopening from around 7.30pm.

Roads adjoining the event routes will have local access only for residents and businesses, with usual Sunday parking restrictions unless otherwise stated.

Hammersmith Bridge is of course closed for repairs. Kew Bridge will be open but is expected
to be busy.

Wandsworth Bridge will be open for local resident access only (with no through route). Putney Bridge will be open between Lower Richmond Road and Fulham High Street.

You can see full details or road closures here and information for West London residents here.

Anyone who usually parks on a road used for the event is asked to move their vehicle the night before. Vehicles cannot be parked on the event route from 1am on Sunday and any vehicle left on the route or parked in a suspended parking bay will be removed from the route.

There will also be significant delays to road journeys. Motorists are advised to avoid driving in the affected areas unless absolutely necessary. If you have to drive, plan ahead, consider retiming your journey and allow more time to complete your journey.

Some bus services will need to be diverted temporarily, suspended or will terminate earlier than usual. Some stops may also be temporarily relocated.

TfL offers comprehensive information for travellers here.
