Town Hall Hosts Evening for Refugees on Monday


Everyone welcome at event marking start of Refugee Week

To mark the beginning of Refugee Week, an evening for refugees is being held at Hammersmith Town Hall on Monday June 20 from 6.30pm - 7.30pm.

The event, open to everyone who wants to support refugees is being hosted by H&F Council and organised by the H&F Welcome Committee and supported by the H&F Refugee Forum.

Called Make a Difference, the evening aims to raise awareness and gain support for re-settled refugees in west London.

The organisers are inviting local residents and businesses interested in finding out how they can help refugees in the community, and especially in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Food and refreshments provided (including take away boxes for people observing the fast)

Testimonies from two refugees, Eiad and Semhar
Syrian journalist, Sulaiman Osman, Hikayetna (Our Stories)
The Council’s response to the refugee crisis
Andy Slaughter (Shadow Minister for Human Rights and MP for Hammersmith)

7.30-8.30pm - Networking:

Stalls by local organisations that support refugees
Display of videos about the life of refugees in camps and interviews of refugees
Photo exhibition 'Welcome To Our Jungle' by asylum seekers in Calais' refugee camp
