For every 1,000 collected Woodland Trust will plant one tree
If you are still wondering what to do with all those cards left over from Christmas, there's still time to recycle themby dropping them into the nearest M&S.
The M&S Christmas Card Recycling Scheme, now in its fifth year, has already helped the Woodland Trust to plant 32,00 trees across the UK by collecting over 32 million cards to date.
For every 1,000 cards dropped in to M&S stores for recycling throughout January, the retailer funds the planting of one tree.
And this year, the scheme is hoping to collect and recycle more than six million cards, funding the planting of 6,000 new trees.
Woodland Trust fundraiser Joanne Mathieson says: "The beauty of this scheme is in its simplicity. Simply collect up those cards, take them to your local M&S store – there are bins in most stores – and M&S will do the rest.
"Not only will the cards be recycled, but where it differs to your kerbside recycle bins is that native trees will be planted right here in the UK too. The more cards collected, the more trees we can plant so please join in."
There will be collection boxes in local branches of M&S on Fulham Broadway, Hammersmith's King Street and in Westfield until January 31.
