Furniture reuse centre delivers for Family Friends charity
A team of Santa's helpers from Furnish, London's largest furniture and appliance re-use service and Family Friends charity will be bringing some extra festive cheer to families in need this Christmas.
They will be presenting Christmas hampers full of goodies to disadvantaged families in Hammersmith & Fulham. They include items such as books, toys, toiletries and assortment of other food for the festive season.
Flora Taylor, Chief Executive of Family Friends added, "I'd like to say a big thank you to Furnish for delivering the hampers and The Junior League of London for donating them. At this time of year it is really heart-warming to be able to help families in this way."
Andrew Taglietti, manager of Furnish's warehouse, said, "We're pleased we're able to help Family Friends to support people in need. We are normally out and about in west London delivering furniture so it's nice to be delivering hampers during the Christmas period. We hope the hampers make things a little bit easier for those families who receive them. It really is great to spread some Christmas cheer to families. We will continue to support Family Friends as long as they need us".
Mother and daughter Gemma and Lucy were so overwhelmed when they received their hamper, Gemma said: "I'm so grateful the whole box is for my family. Thank you so much for your generosity."
After receiving a hamper Ines, said: "Thank you for the hamper and what a great pleasure it is to receive it. You made me cry actually. My son Darren is so happy and excited to have the box of lovely things."
This is the eighth year Furnish has helped Family Friends as part of their Christmas Hamper donation.
Furnish, a social enterprise, is London's largest furniture re-use service. It collects good quality second-hand furniture donated by west Londoners. They sell it at affordable prices in their shop in Shepherd's Bush's West 12 shopping centre . Furnish offers vintage and retro items and other bits and pieces for people which they can actually afford. Furnish also offers discounts so low income households can furnish their homes. As well as the shop, Furnish runs the West London Re-use Centre in Greenford, a space half the size of a football pitch. Stock goes from there to the shop. The Re-use Centre also provides a removals and clearance and fit out service, mainly for social landlords.
