Two Years in Jail for Hammersmith & Fulham Police Officer

Scott Johnson had an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable female

A police constable working in Hammersmith & Fulham borough has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to misconduct in public office.

45-year-old Scott Johnson was arrested last year after an allegation that he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable female he had met whilst on duty, and sent her inappropriate texts and naked images of himself from his mobile phone.

He was charged with the offence this August and on Thursday, 6 December, he was sentenced to two years in jail at Southwark Crown Court.

He met the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, while on duty in September 2016 and their relationship lasted for just over a year until his arrest. He was suspended from duty at that point.

He was found guilty last month and, although given bail, was warned by the judge that he would face a custodial sentence who described his offence as ‘very serious’.

His own lawyer had admitted Johnson’s behaviour was strange but had pointed out that he was suffering from depression after the breakup of a relationship and the death of his mother. He was the sole carer for his father who is seriously ill with cancer.

In 2011 Johnson received an award for professionalism and courage shown while on duty at student protests that year.
