Local teenager wins Met's award for Presence and Performance
Hammersmith and Fulham police cadet Katie Speller has won a top award in the Met Police's pan London Volunteer Police Cadets Awards.
Katie's award for Presence and Performance for 13-15 year olds was presented by Commander Simon Bray.
Katie came first in her category among cadets from all 32 London boroughs at the awards, presented at Fulham's London Oratory School in January.
Another Hammersmith and Fulham cadet, Abelfettah Slimani was nominated for Best New Recruit, for which he was highly commended and received a certificate.
One cadet from each borough was also selected to receive an award for Cadet Ambassador of the Year in their respective boroughs. In Hammersmith and Fulham, this award was presented to Mahad Abdalla while Yasi Ettoubi was named Junior Cadet Ambassador.
Hammersmith and Fulham Youth Engagement and Volunteer Police Cadets coordinator PC Joanne Duffy said: " I am immensely proud of Katie. She has worked so hard over the past year and to win this award, whilst being up against cadets from all 32 boroughs, is a massive achievement."
Detective Superintendent Paul Jervis from Hammersmith and Fulham added: " Congratulations to Katie for her achievement, we are proud of her. Also thanks to all the cadets and leaders, as although this is an award well deserved by Katie, it reflects on what a great team we have at Hammersmith and Fulham."
The cadets support local police and make a positive difference in their local communities, with many cadets having the ambition to progress to become PCs.
