Taste beers, wines and cocktails at festival in Margravine Road
The Pear Tree Pub in Margravine Road is hosting a festival celebrating The Best of British Drinks this weekend.
There will be a chance to taste wines, unusual ales and sparkling cocktails during the debut festival at the pub in Margravine Road, near Charing Cross Hospital from November Friday 11 November and running through the weekend.
There will also be a a mix of live music and hearty food to accompany the range of drinks.
Among new drinks to be showcased during the festival are the award-winning Wye Valley ale Butty Bach, as well as Hop House Lager 13 and Guinness Golden Ale, both from the Guinness Brewer’s Project latest range of craft beers.
The Pear Tree manager Lara Pownall says the Butty Bach is a particularly special drink to try. “We are the only pub in London to serve this beer – it’s very easy drinking, a nice, smooth ale and quite hoppy," she says.
As well as the new beers on offer behind the bar, the festival will feature a cocktail station and a wine-tasting session which will take place at 3pm on Sunday 13 November.
A wine expert will lead grape-lovers through a tour of The Pear Tree’s selection of wines, including eight reds, eight whites, two rose wines, and a sparkling rose.
Drinks will be available to buy as Christmas presents, including English sparkling wine from family-run Tuffon Hall Vineyard in North Essex.
Meanwhile, The Pear Tree landlord Daz Seager will be preparing a special festival menu of tasty dishes such as steak and kidney pudding.
The pub is still on the lookout for local bands, groups and solo artists to take part in the musical side of the festival – to get in touch call 020 7381 1787.
