New Play Equipment Coming to Fulham Parks by New Year

Work improving Eel Brook Common begins next week

Children will be able to enjoy brand new swings, slides, roundabouts and see-saws at three parks across the borough, including two in Fulham - Lillie Road Recreation Ground, where work is underway and Eel Brook Common, where work begins next week.

The third is Wendell Park in Shepherd's Bush, where work has also begun and Hammersmith & Fulham Council says all three playgrounds are expected to be complete by the new year.

At a combined cost of £200,000, all three parks will get brand new play surfacing and grass areas.

Wendell Park will also benefit from a new slide, swings, an activity net, a seesaw, hammock, and a roundabout.

At Lillie Road Recreation Ground, improvements will include a new slide, roundabout, flat swings, a nest swing, seesaw, spinners and new trees.

Eel Brook Common improvements will feature a combination of all of these components.

Over the last two years, the council has improved numerous playgrounds the length and breadth of the borough. These are Bishops Park, Brook Green, Cathnor Park, Hammersmith Park, Hurlingham Park, Marcus Garvey Park, Margravine Gardens, Ravenscourt Park, South Park, White City Playground and Wormwood Scrubs.

Cllr Greg Smith, deputy leader, says:

" Providing top quality, beautiful parks and open spaces is one of this council’s number one priorities . We recognise that fun and exciting opportunities to play are at the heart of a happy, healthy and enjoyable childhood and are delighted that we can add these three new sites to long list of playgrounds that have seen improvements over recent years. I am sure children will get hours of enjoyment out of the new equipment."
