Last Chance to Respond to Consultation over 20mph Speed Limit

Residents invited to join the debate by deadline of July 31

Hammersmith and Fulham Council's consultation on plans to introduce a 20mph speed limit across the borough ends on Friday, July 31.

The consultation invites members of the public to have their say on whether or not to implement a reduced speed limit in the borough and if so, where they think it should apply. To take part before the deadline, go to 20mph consultation and respond online.

H&F Council says it is considering a borough-wide 20mph speed limit in an effort to reduce the number of casualties on the road, to promote public health by encouraging more walking and cycling and to make neighbourhoods more pleasant.

The council says hundreds of people have already given their views on the proposals.

“It’s great that so many residents have been quick to give us their opinions and interesting to read the mix of views from those supporting the scheme and those people with reservations,” says Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Residents’ Services.

“We still need to make sure as many people as possible respond, including young people, so we hope everyone will get online, or post their answers back to us. The more views we get back, the better understanding we will have of how the whole borough feels, not just those who have responded already. This in turn will help shape any future decisions.”
