Palestine on the Thames Marks 70th Anniversary of Nakba

Free two day event hosts discussion, art, workshops, food, stalls and pop-up shop

Palestine on the Thames is a free, family friendly event in Hammersmith marking the 70th anniversary of Nakba this weekend, 12 and 13 May.

Nakba Day, meaning ‘Day of the Catastrophe commemorates the suffering of Palestinians in May 1948 when thousands were driven from their homes and land by Israeli armed forces to become refugees. Many still are to this day.

The theme of this event, hosted by Uthink Creative. and taking place from 10am till 8pm on both days in the Riverside Building in Winslow Road, Hammersmith is Nakba In My Present, featuring a number of presentations by speakers sharing their views, feelings, experiences about what Nakba means to them.

The programme also includes art, workshops, stalls and pop-up shops. There will be a raffle, excellent food and good discussion.

What to expect?

-Art exhibition by Nabil Anani, one of the most prominent Palestinian artists working today.
-An Introductory Dabke Workshops with Hawiyya,
-A Basic Embroidery Workshops with Auntie Suzy,
-Stalls by Interpal, Chachoulie, Ashaam, Auntie Suzy’s Embroidery, Zaytoun CIC & more.
