RNLI is chosen as this year's Mayoral charity
Cllr Adronie Alford has been named the new Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham.
The decision was made at Wednesday night's Annual General Meeting. Cllr Frances Stainton was named Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Alford, who represents Munster Ward, succeeds Cllr Alex Karmel and has chosen the Royal National Lifeboat Institution as her Mayoral charity.
Cllr Alford first became a councillor in 1990 and during her council career has served as Cabinet Member for Housing. She also established the H&F Homes leaseholder panels and has served on numerous committees.
Speaking after last night’s AGM, she said: " It is a true privilege to have been nominated Mayor and I feel humbled and honoured.
" I am very proud to be able to represent all the citizens of this diverse and vibrant borough and look forward to serving as Mayor for the coming year.
" The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a magnificent charity, doing an amazing job and I hope to raise significant funds for them over the next 12 months. "
Much of Cllr Alford’s spare time is taken up looking after her pet animals. She has one dog, four cats, two tree frogs, five lizards, two fire-chested toads, 25 fish and a pony! She is also a keen embroiderist and jeweller and enjoys travelling, particularly by train.
Cllr Alford will have three consorts during her Mayoral period, Lavender Hastie and George and Diana Sulimirski.
The new Cabinet was also announced at the meeting:
Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh – Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic and Housing Development
Cllr Nicholas Botterill – Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment and Asset Management
Cllr Mark Loveday - Cabinet Member for Strategy and Chief Whip
Cllr Helen Binmore - Cabinet Member for Children’s Services
