Former MP and Hammersmith resident is raising funds for cervical cancer charity
Former MP and Hammersmith resident Mary Macleod has taken on a new challenge for the start of 2016- and it's not politics.
She is spending a week undertaking an action-packed dog sledding challenge in Swedish Lapland, "Europe’s Last Wilderness" travelling with a pack of huskies through dense forests and frozen lakes.
The money raised will go to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, which was set up in the memory of mother-of-three Jo Maxwell who died from cervical cancer at the age of 40.
The charity offers support for women and their families affected by cervical cancer, raises awareness on prevention and campaigns for best care and treatment.
Mary says: "It will be a real test of endurance (as if politics wasn’t enough!) with unpredictable weather conditions, in the company of some beautiful dogs.
