Big Brother contestant accused of spending thousands on ex-girlfriend's bank card

Big Brother contestant Marco Pierre White Junior has appeared at Hammersmith Magistrates' Court accused of stealing an ex-girlfriend's debit card and spending thousands of pounds on it without her permission.

The 21 year-old son of the famous chef - the first British chef to be awarded three Michelin stars - has pleaded not guilty to the charges and claims that the complainant, former model Carina Evans, was motivated by revenge after their relationship ended badly.

Tom Gill, prosecuting, said: "He is accused of using a bank card belonging to someone he was in a relationship with, purchasing various items to the value of £3,900." 

According to the Sun newspaper, the prosecution has asked that bail not be granted because he tested positive for cocaine when detained. Initially he had failed to surrender to police when they attempted to contact him and evaded police until he was tracked down and arrested in Bristol.

Mr White claimed that his phone was not working and he was on holiday unaware he was being sought by the police.

The Sun reports that the Court was told that he denies the allegations saying that the complainant was motivated by revenge. His defence says there is no evidence presented of him actually using the card.

Bail was granted on the condition that he adheres to an overnight curfew in his home on Chiswick High Road until his trial.

Earlier this year a trial against his mother collapsed after Marco Pierre White Jnr failed to appear in Court to give evidence against her after accusing her of assaulting him and his brother. The judge was informed that he was too hungover to attend.

He is due to return to Hammersmith Magistrates Court for trial on November 23.
