See rising stars in After the Dance, with half price tickets for local residents
The spring season of plays at LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) on Hammersmith's Talgarth Road begins next week and runs through till April, with a wide variety of dramatic and music productions.
The season at the academy, which last month appointed actor Benedict Cumberbatch as its new president, begins with Terence Rattigan's After the Dance, running from 6 - 15 February.
Seen fleetingly in the West End in 1939, Terence Rattigan's play is a portrait of a group of hard-drinking Mayfair hedonists and doomed fantasists on the eve of war.
As the world rests on the brink of World War II, a crowd of ‘bright young things’ parties its way to oblivion, led by questionable hero David.
David and Joan are married, but only for amusement it seems; living for the moment and on a constant quest for pleasure. Helen on the other hand is quite serious; serious about freeing David from his wife, his alcohol dependency and his career inertia.
Trapped between the two, and faced with sudden tragedy, David’s going to make a change, isn’t he?
After the Dance, directed by Caroline Leslie will be presented in LAMDA's Carne Studio Theatre.
It will be followed by Brian Friel's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s masterpiece Hedda Gabler from 7 - 15 March.
You can see full details of the season here.
These plays are open to the public, with standard tickets costing £14, and special half price rates for Hammersmith and Fulham residents.
