Chris Tarrant "In Good Hands" at Charing Cross
TV presenter recovering in hospital after being taken ill on plane
TV presenter Chris Tarrant is "in good hands and doing really well" in Charing Cross Hospital after being taken ill during a flight from Thailand to London.
Chris, 67 was taken to the hospital in Fulham Palace Road on Saturday evening after after cabin crew on the flight to phone ahead to arrange for an ambulance to meet him at Heathrow Airport.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that a man had been transferred to Charing Cross Hospital from Heathrow "as a priority".
His manager Paul Vaughan said the next day that he had spoken to Chris in hospital and said he sounded "very tired".
He believed the health scare was triggered by an asthma attack. "I've been his manager for 30 years," he said, " and I know that if he goes down like a ton of bricks it's usually asthma.
"I'm surmising, but I think his asthma attack might have been triggered by a night-time stopover in Bangkok, which has very poor air quality."
Since then a flood of goodwill messages has appeared on Twitter for Chris, including one from Thai Airways saying:
" Everyone @ThaiAirwaysUK would like to wish Chris Tarrant a speedy recovery following his unwell spell this weekend ".
The TiswasFan Club meanwhile tweeted a message from Chris's PA Sue @tiswasfanclub: " Hi, thanks for your best wishes – I will pass them on to CT. He is in good hands and doing really well!"
