Community Groups Celebrate Fundraising Success through New H&F Hive

New projects invited to use council's crowdfunding initiative in 2018

A festive lunch for older folk, support for improving a local park, a summer party for local families and a new shower for homeless people - all projects which have been funded this year by the new H&F Hive.

The Hive was set up by Hammersmith & Fulham Council to help local groups raise funds for community projects. As well as using it for crowdfunding, and raising funds through donations from friends and neighbours, projects can pitch for a share of £200,000 which H&F Council has made available to support great local initiatives.

In 2017, four projects have hit their fundraising targets:

The Shepherd's Bush Families Project ran the first successful H&F Hive campaign raising £1,435 to hold a summer party for local families.

Barons Court Project, the local charity supporting people who are street homeless or living with mental health difficulties, will start the New Year with a reliable supply of hot water for their showers after raising £8,749 for a new boiler and heating system.

In Shepherd's Bush, the Wendell Park Gardening Friends raised £9,415 for bulbs, plants and tools for replanting a large border in Wendell Park.

And on Christmas Day, over 200 older H&F residents will enjoy a festive lunch after the council, residents, community organisations and local businesses generously chipped in to raise £27,121 to bring people together at the town hall for festive food, fun and friendship.

If you have an idea for a community project, the H&F Hive is open to residents and community groups looking to raise money for great initiatives.

"We are delighted that groups will be using their funding to make H&F an even better place to work, live and socialise," Cllr Sue Fennimore, Deputy Leader of H&F Council. "We’ve seen some fantastic community schemes in 2017 – and I’m looking forward to seeing many new and inspiring projects come to life in 2018.

"If you have an idea that will benefit your local community, the council may be able to help with a contribution of up to £10,000," she added." We want to help you make your community project idea a reality.”
