Come to the First H&F Healthy and Fit Hackathon

People of all ages invited to share ideas about eating well and exercising

Local people of all ages and from all backgrounds are invited to sign up for Hammersmith and Fulham's first Healthy and Fit Hackathon.

The Hackathon, described by H&F Council as a fun and creative ideas marathon will take place on Saturday May 14 from 10am to 6pm at Hammersmith Town Hall in King Street.

The hackathon will focus on the health of young people in Hammersmith & Fulham, with people from all sorts of backgrounds will work together, designing innovative solutions to tricky challenges.

The council says too many young people find it hard to eat healthily and exercise enough, with serious long-term consequences to their health and quality of life.

The event's all about what can happen when a group of energetic, motivated people get together to create positive suggestions for lasting change.

No experience or homework is required - just turn up on the day! Bring a laptop, tablet or other device if you have one, but it is not a problem if you do not. It's free and there will be refreshments to keep you energised. Your ideas could change lives.

You will become part of a team to develop a practical solution to one of four challenges. Choose from:

How can healthy food be more accessible and popular?
How could there be better participation in PE and sport – including use of green space?
What could happen to help families with young children eat well and move more to build good habits for life?
How can teenagers be more fit, healthy and body-confident?
Supported by designers and health experts, your team will develop an idea and create a short pitch to showcase it.

At the end of the day, a panel of judges and everyone taking part will view all the live pitches and identify those ideas that can be turned into reality.

A wide group of people will take part; children, young people and their families, community groups, local business owners, health and care professionals, developers and designers.

H&F Council says the hackathon will be fast, fun and full of hands-on teamwork, aiming show what can happen when motivated local people get together to develop ideas that can have a lasting effect.

You can sign up for the Hackathon here and you will then be sent you more details.
