Blaze in Shepherd's Bush Tower Block Now Under Control

Two treated at the scene as firefighters tackle blaze on seventh, eighth and ninth floors

London Fire Brigade has tweeted at just before 6pm on Friday that the blaze in a Shepherd's Bush a tower block is now under control, two hours after it was called to the scene.

However, the Brigade says that fire crews remain on the scene "damping down" the remains of the blaze.

London Ambulance say they also remain on the scene and have now treated two people, though neither required hospital treatment.

Natasha Wills, Assistant Director of Operations at London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4:01pm to reports of a fire at an address in Shepherds Bush.

"We sent multiple resources including ambulance crews, single responders in cars, our hazardous area response team and an incident response officer."

120 firefighters from 10 local stations tackled the fire on the seventh, eighth and ninth floors of a high rise block of flats overlooking Shepherd's Bush Green.

Smoke from the fire billowed across the centre f Shepherd's Bush and the nearby West 12 Shopping Centre was evacuated as a precaution.

London Fire Brigade says it was alerted at 3.44pm this afternoon and 20 fire engines attended the fire in the 18 storey building.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen across the area and 999 control officers took over 40 emergency calls to the incident.

 

Crews from Hammersmith, Kensington, Acton, Chiswick, Paddington, Fulham, Park Royal, Battersea, Wandsworth, Brixton and fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
