Official Launch of Bluecity Car Hire Scheme Now Set for 12 June

At Lyric Square eco-fair rescheduled from April due to General Election

An 'eco fair' in Hammersmith's Lyric Square which includes the official launch of H&F's electric car hire club has been re-scheduled for Monday 12 June.

The launch was set to take place in April, but was then postponed till after the General Election on 8 June.

The event aims to introduce residents of Hammersmith and Fulham to the borough's new electric car club, Bluecity.

Though this is the official launch, these red cars are already being seen around the borough and sitting at the growing network of charging points.

Residents are being offered a year's free membership of Bluecity's scheme, which works rather like Santander cycles, where you can pick up a car from any local charging point, plus 20 hours of free driving.

H&F already has a network of 85 on-street electric vehicle charging points, including in residential streets, which is expected to grow to 150 by this summer, from charging points provider Source London.

Across London meanwhile there already over 850.

You can see a map of points in the borough which are already operational and those coming soon on Source London's website.

Car club members can use any of these charging points.

Bluecity cars create no exhaust emissions, so you can drive around safe in the knowledge you’re not
contributing to local air pollution levels as well as helping to combat climate change.

Club members will be able to reserve a vehicle 30 minutes in advance and can leave it in one of the many compatible charging bays across London, which can be found via the app.

If you live and work in H&F, you can register online to access the free membership deal.

You can find out more by visiting the eco-fair between 11am and 2pm on 12 June. The fair will be attended by H&F Council Leader, Cllr Stephen Cowan and representatives of Bluecity and will also include a number of information stalls on a range of environmental issues.
