Country's Stupidest Criminal Convicted!

Bumbling thief tries to steal detective's bag in room full of police

A bumbling thief has been branded the "stupidest criminal in the country" after trying to steal a detective’s handbag from a room full of police officers!

Around 30 officers were enjoying a colleague’s leaving do at Elk Bar, Fulham Broadway ON Wednesday, January 20 when Mark Jimenez, 46, decided to chance his arm.

But the police officers spotted the villain as he made his move and quickly tackled him and bundled him to the ground.

On Tuesday, Jimenez, 46, of Cranberry Road in Fulham was given an 18 month community order at West London Magistrates. He was also placed under curfew from 7pm to 7am for a period of six months.

Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: " I can’t believe that anyone would be stupid enough to try and pinch a detective’s bag from a room full of officers.

" This numbsk ull had a rude awakening when he was rugby-tackled by 30 police officers."

The leaving party, appropriately enough, was for Inspector Penny Mills from the Fulham Broadway Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Jimenez has also been banned from all pubs along Fulham Broadway.
