Rapper MC Harvey Jailed for Driving While Banned in Fulham
Former So Solid Crew member had two previous convictions
Rapper MC Harvey has been jailed for ten weeks for driving while banned in Fulham's Munster Road.
At Hammersmith Magistrates' Court, Mc - real name Michael - an ex-member of So Solid Crew begged the court for mercy saying that prison would put an end to a Hollywood career.
Harvey, 36 refused to pull over when he was spotted using his mobile phone while driving his BMW down Munster Road, on September 3 last year.
However, PC Bernard Black recognised him from his days with the group and he was called in to Fulham police station.
Kunal Dave, prosecuting, told the court: "PC Black had identified the driver as Mr Harvey from Mr Harvey's career as a member of So Solid Crew.
"Obviously they have got an extensive media career, if I can put it that way."
Cops discovered he had been disqualified from driving for six months in July 2015, after totting up 12 points on his licence.
Harvey initially denied charges of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, claiming he was not the driver.
But he finally admitted to the offences in an appearance at Hammersmith magistrates' Court, accompanied by his mum and his partner.
Harvey also claimed that it was difficult to use public transport like most people due to his fame.
He has previous convictions for drink-driving, serving a nine-month ban in 2005 and a 20-month ban in 2010.
Harvey's lawyer argued that a custodial sentence would spell the end of the rapper's career, which he said was beginning to pick up.
Tomas Garvey said: "It's a bad time for Mr Harvey, it seems every five years he makes some stupid mistakes with regard to driving. I have dressed it up as best as I can but it's a mercy request.
"In the eyes of US immigration the word custody is fatal."
He added that Harvey's career has followed a "peak and trough" pattern, but is now "approaching an incline", with filming dates booked for May.
Harvey has previously starred in the 2006 West End musical 'Daddy Cool'.
