Prolific Teen Burglar Jailed for Over Three Years
Guzman-Robinson broke into ten homes in Fulham, Hammersmith, Chiswick and beyond
A teenager has been jailed for more than three years for committing ten burglaries in Fulham, Hammersmith, Chiswick and across Thames Valley areas.
Marcelo Guzman-Robinson, 19, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, April 22 and was sentenced on Wednesday, May 6 at Kingston Crown Court to three years and four months' imprisonment.
Guzman-Robinson, a Chilean national, carried out the offences over six weeks between January 28 and March 13 last year, just after entering the country.
The first burglary took place sometime during the day on January 28. Guzman-Robinson forced his way into a property in Burlington Road in Fulham stealing jewellery and computer equipment including iPads, iPhones and a laptop.
He used a black backpack he found at the premises to take away the stolen items. CCTV footage showed Guzman-Robinson on Fulham High Street carrying the rucksack just after 6pm.
The second offence was in Upham Park Road in Chiswick on February 8. Guzman-Robinson again forced his way into the property, stealing cash, jewellery and a Rolex watch.
Guzman-Robinson committed five more offences between February 12 and 21 in Eton, Reading, and across Berkshire, incuding three break-ins in one day on February 13. During this spree, he stole jewellery, computer equipment and cash.
The burglaries continued in March, with a break-in in Rivercroft Road in Hammersmith in the early evening of March 1 and Denbigh Gardens in Twickenham on March 7.
He was charged with the offences on December 23.
Detective Constable Gary Smith from Richmond CID said: "Guzman-Robinson even targeted properties with burglar alarms, just ripping them from the wall. However, during a number of the burglaries he left fingerprints and DNA at the scene. He was linked to the offences by a combination of forensic evidence at the scene of three of the burglaries and mobile phone data analysis.
"Guzman-Robinson would travel across London and the Home Counties looking to target homes in order to commit burglary. At least residents can rest assured that he will be off the streets for some time and when he is released from prison he will be removed from the country."
Police say two further offences of burglary, on 13 February in Berkshire and March 12 in Cassilis Road, Twickenham, were left to lie on file.
