Man's 100 foot plunge seen by Shepherd's Bush Road shoppers

Police investigating the death of a man who fell from the top floor of flats above Tesco in Hammersmith say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

The victim, who police say was 47, fell 100 feet from the top floor of the building, in Barb Mews just off Shepherd's Bush Road, shortly before 5.15pm on Tuesday January 7.

Emergency services rushed to his aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Barb Mews, W6, shortly before 5.15pm on January 7, following reports of a man fallen from a building.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found the body of a man who was pronounced dead at the scene."

A London Ambulance spokeswoman added: "We sent a responder in a car, two ambulances and a duty officer. Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene."

The flats, in a five storey high block called Osram Court are managed by housing association Peabody.

Police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
