Restrictions also set down by police on his release
A 60 year-old man has been jailed for 22 months after being convicted of attempted child abduction in London W14.
Former businessman Shaouki Roda was sentenced on November 20 at the Central Criminal Court.
The court was told that on April 4 this year, Roda approached an eight year-old girl as she was running an errand for her mother near Avonmore Road in London W14.
Roda tried to entice her into his flat on a nearby estate by offering her sweets, but the girl refused. When she tried to walk off, he grabbed her by the shoulder, but the girl managed to break free and run home.
After initial police enquiries, Roda was arrested and the further investigation led to computers being examined, CCTV cameras being viewed and officers speaking to dozens of local people. RODA was interviewed several times, but refused to make any admissions to the offence or explain his actions.
The investigation was then directed to Identity Parades and the young girl involved successfully identified Roda as the offending male.
Court enquiries concentrated on the mental health of the accused man, but doctors from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital declared him fit and healthy.
At a very late stage in the investigation, Roda entered a guilty plea to the offence of Attempt Child Abduction and was convicted and sentenced to 22 months imprisonment. He was also given a number of restrictions set down by the court upon his release.
