Thousands Enjoy King Street's First Ever Christmas Market

With over 100 stalls on traffic free King Street plus day of family entertainment

More than 16,000 visitors enjoyed the first Hammersmith Christmas market last Saturday, according to Hammersmith & Fulham Council.

Visitors shopped at over 100 stalls set along a pedestrianised King Street and Lyric Square and enjoyed a day of family friendly activities and entertainment, including a pop-up ice rink.

The Jack and the Beanstalk-themed Treasure Hunt was hugely popular with the kids who ended up finding the (jelly) beans on the ice rink opposite the Town Hall.

And among those visiting the market were the cast of the Lyric's Jack and the Beanstalk.

Family-friendly street entertainment included carol singing cats, naughty elves, Glitter Belles on stilts, Rudolph, Ice King and Queen, a seasonal photo booth, free Christmas wrapping and children’s workshops.

"The Hammersmith Christmas market was a huge success and a great way to start the festive season," said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration. "We are aiming to improve all major high streets in the borough to make H&F the greatest place to live, work and socialise in Europe."

This weekend, North End Road will go traffic free on Saturday 9 December for its 2017 Christmas Market. You can find more details here.
