Plan Ahead for This Weekend's Carnival

Your guide to getting to and from Notting Hill on Sunday and Monday

Transport for London is advising drivers to avoid the Notting Hill area this weekend, as road closures and diversions are in place for the Carnival, taking place on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 August.

TfL says tube and rail will be the best way to get around London during the weekend, although stations in west London will be busier than usual and some stations will close earlier, so please check last train times.

At some stations, gates may be left open so that you can exit more quickly.

On Sunday and Monday, the following stations have entry and exit restrictions:

• Latimer Road will close at 11.30pm on both days
• Notting Hill Gate will be exit only and the Circle/District lines will not stop on both days between 11am and 7pm. There will also be no interchange between the Central and Circle/District lines
• Westbourne Park will be exit only between 11am and 6pm and will close at 11.30pm on both days
• Royal Oak will be exit only between 11am and 6pm and will close at 6pm on both days
• Holland Park will be exit only from 7pm on both days

In addition, visitors will find Bayswater, Paddington, High Street Kensington, Shepherd's Bush and Queen's Park stations all busier than usual.

Buses in and around the event area will be on diversion or will stop short of their normal destination.

From around 5am on Sunday 27 August to 5am on Tuesday 29 August, buses around the event area will be on diversion or will terminate earlier than usual to avoid the road closures.

During these times, buses will start from the Prince of Wales on Harrow Road to the north of the carnival area. To the south of the carnival area, buses will start from Notting Hill Gate.

Affected bus routes include: 7, 16, 18, 23, 27, 28, 31, 46, 52, 70, 94, 98, 148, 220, 228, 295, 316, 328, 332, 414, 452, N7, N16, N18, N28, N31, N98 and N207.

Extra buses will run on routes 2, 36 and 205 which can be found on Journey Planner as 2X, 36X and 205X. There will be extra day and night buses serving the Notting Hill Carnival, but buses in west London are expected to be busier than usual, so allow plenty of time for your journey

A number of Santander Cycle Hire docking stations will be out of service.
