Ultra-Fast Broadband Now Available on White City Estate

Other estates in borough also to be 'future-proofed' with country's fastest connections

Residents of the White City Estate now have the chance to surf the net at record speeds of up to 1,000Mbps.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council has teamed up with Community Fibre to make the White City Estate one of the largest in London to have ultra-fast fibre optic broadband on offer in the 2,000 homes on the estate.

The next estates to have ultra-fast broadband in the coming months will be the Clem Attlee estate in Fulham and Edward Woods estate. The council says it will surpass the minimum speeds required by the government for 2020 – by a whopping 100 times.

"We are delighted to be working with H&F to bring gigabit services to properties in the area," says Jeremy Chelot, Chief Executive at Community Fibre.

"H&F has made it easy for Community Fibre to bring this expansion to reality, showing how innovative and committed the borough is to bringing the best connectivity to the residents."

"We are future-proofing the first of our estates with some of the fastest internet connections in the country," says Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration. "We want more people to be connected in the borough as we strive to make H&F the best place to live, work and socialise in Europe."

You can find out more about the service at Community Fibre's website.

H&F Council has also formed a new partnership with ITS Technology Group to develop a dedicated fibre optic network in the borough for local businesses.

The council says it is the first local authority in the country to grant access to its underground CCTV ducts to install the 19km of ducts needed to create the high-speed fibre network.
