Gastro pub is under new management, but chef Phil Harrison is back
The Anglesea Arms in Wingate Road is set to reopen on June 11.
The popular Hammersmith gastro pub has been much missed since it closed in March, but last week the restaurant guide Harden's reported on its Twitter account @HardensBites: "The @_AngleseaArmsW6 returns 11 June under new owners. The old management team move to @TheEarlSpencer in Wandsworth."
The following day the pub responded on its Twitter account mr.anglesea @_AngleseaArmsW6: " Look, my first #selfie."
That was followed by a second tweet and selfie: " Having a much needed wall removed! Wow that feels better!! "
Though the pub is now under new management, regulars will be glad to hear that former head chef Phil Harrison will be in the kitchen.
In response to a question about the pub opening, Phil @prep_cook_eat said: " We will be opening on the 11june, not taking booking just yet but follow @_AngleseaArmsW6 for more details."
And he added: " I NEED a chef de partie. Please help me find a new member to the family!!"
One regular who was clearly excited by the news is actor James Purefoy, currently starring in the American TV series The Following. In response to the pub's announcement, he tweeted on his account @JamesPurefoy: "
“ @_AngleseaArmsW6: Im opening my door again, look forward to seeing you soon”. The world is saved! The world is saved!"
