Join in a busy programme of outdoor activities during March
Hammersmith Community Gardens Association has a busy programme of events planned during the next month.
The HCGA says that at some of these events a small fee will be charged to cover costs and adds that donations to cover materials and staff time are always appreciated.
Here's the schedule:
Tuesday 3rd March, 10.30am -12.30pm – Reopening of the Phoenix School ‘Pop Up’ Fruit and Veg Stall. Try and buy seasonal vegetables grown by the local community at the Phoenix School Farm. Homemade soup will be available. The fruit and veg stall will be open every Tuesday.
Thursday 5th March – Film Screening ‘Project Wild Thing’, Phoenix School, 6pm.
Project Wild Thing is a film led movement to get more kids (and their folks!) outside and reconnecting with nature. The film is an ambitious, feature-length documentary that takes a funny and revealing look at a complex issue, the increasingly disparate connection between children and nature.
Tickets are free but donations towards the cost of the screening are appreciated, refreshments will also be available to purchase. Booking is required as places are limited.

Friday 13th March – Bats and Bangers Walk, Meet at Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses at 5.30pm. for a guided bat walk around the park then head back to the glasshouses to warm up with barbequed sausages!

Saturday 14th March, Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses - Herbal Workshop, Come and learn about the cultivation of herbs and their medicinal, culinary and cosmetic uses. There will be various products to try and you will have the opportunity to make your own items to take home. 11-3pm £20 per person, current HCGA volunteers free. Please bring a packed lunch or alternatively you can purchase food at the cafe next door.
Saturday 21st March 10am -2pm. - Big Local ‘Big Dig’ Event. Come and help Phoenix School Farm get ready for the new growing season. There will be lots of growing activities to try; seed sowing, preparing the ground, harvesting and tasting seasonal produce. Taste our homemade soup. All welcome, just turn up!
Saturday 28th March – Get Out There and Walk, Olympic Park. HCGA will be running a series of walks throughout 2015 as part of the Get Out There! project.
Meet at Godolphin Gardens at 9.30am and bring your Oyster Card for travel by public transport to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Booking is essential for all walks. Walk finish times will vary depending on location and walk, please ask for details when booking. Walk lengths vary from 3-6 miles, and will be slow-moderately paced with opportunities for wildlife watching and sight-seeing. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions, wear appropriate footwear for walking and bring a packed lunch and water. Some locations may have a café and other facilities.
