Last Chance to Nominate Hammersmith's Best Buildings for Awards

Hammersmith Society also hands Wooden Spoon to the worst!

What gets your vote as the best building scheme in Hammersmith or Shepherd's Bush - and what do you think is the worst?

There is a last chance this bank holiday weekend to register your nominations for the Hammersmith Society's Environment Awards 2015 by the closing date of Monday May 4.

Inaugurated in 1989, the annual awards are for schemes which improve the environment in Hammersmith or Shepherds Bush.

The society say that in recent years they sometimes scratched around to discover worthwhile new architecture or urban design, but in 2015 vice-chairman Tom Ryland has already noted several developments to consider this year.

Residents are invited to email Tom with their suggestion: these could be for a new building, an excellent renovation or conservation, an improved shop-front, sympathetic road planning or new green space - large or small.

If a scheme has lifted the townscape and brought a smile to your face email Tom at tomryland@cparchitects.com, giving the address, and details of the owner and architect’s name (if known).

The society also awards Wooden Spoons for eyesores; if a scheme – or persistent neglect - displeases please also email Tom. The committee then sets forth to view and assess the nominations; Tom contacts the winners and prepares the presentation for the Hammersmith's Society AGM Thursday, 19 June 2104, 7.30pm at the Baptist Church hall in Ravenscourt Road, opposite Ravenscourt Park tube station.

All winners receive a plaque, and of course one unfortunate one receives a wooden spoon.
