One of three Better leisure centres to be boosted as part of new contract
Hammersmith Fitness & Squash Centre is to get a major upgrade, with improvements to changing facilities, as well as a reconfigured reception area, including fast pay kiosks to support cashless payments.
The centre is one of three in the borough, along with the Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool in White City and Lillie Road Fitness Centre run by GLL under the brand name Better.
The improvements are in their way after GLL and H&F Council renewed their agreement. As part of the new contract, each of the three leisure centres will get upgraded facilities to improve residents’ experiences. This will include new
equipment, and improvements to gym and studio spaces.
Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool will get a complete refurbishment of its changing facilities and new 'swipe and enter' access through its main reception.
Lillie Road Fitness Centre is set to to get a major upgrade, with improved changing areas and a brand new reception area.
All three sites will also offer a new Pay & Play membership card, available to all borough residents, which will give discounts on various sport and leisure services.
GLL will invest in the local community through both financial and in-kind support to projects that encourage local people to get active, learn and play together.
"As a charitable sociaenterprise, we exist to provide affordable, accessible leisure facilities in the communities that we serve," said Simon Sen, GLL regional director.
"In carrying out improvements to our centres in the borough, we can provide a modern, high-quality experience for our customers, and help get more people more active, more often."
