Gang used sledgehammers in break in to pawnbrokers

Hammersmith Robbery Squad are hunting a gang who broke into a King Street pawnbrokers and stole jewellery from the store's glass cabinets on Tuesday morning.

The gang of three men used sledgehammers to smash into the cabinets during the break in at H&T Pawnbrokers, directly opposite the Town Hall.

The police have issued a statement saying: " Police were called at approximately 11.20am in the morning of Tuesday April 27 to reports of a robbery at a shop in King St W6.

" Three male suspects entered the premises, smashed a number of cabinets and made off with a quantity of jewellery.

" The suspects then ran off down Albion Mews and got into a silver Mercedes vehicle and drove off down Glenthorne Road.

" Officers are still seeking the vehicle which was a righthand drive and had a foreign number plate. It was stolen from the Kensington area on Saturday April 24.

" We have no further descriptions of the suspects at this time.

" No one was injuried, however the staff in the shop were very shaken.

" Officers from the Robbery Squad at Hammersmith Police Station are investigating the incident."
